Wow, can you believe the weather we are having? Spring is just around the corner. I can already taste those delicious glasses of Sangria with fresh fruit and Scott's pulled pork and prime rib.
I had something cool happen today. On my friends list is the wife of one of my co-workers. She has the sweetest personality, I know this even though I don't know her very well. It's evident in her posts and photos. Well, she posted a link to her mom's Blog and I just loved it. So, after spending about an hour reading through her Blog and looking at her photo's I decided to take a different approach to my Blog.
Oh, I'll still bitch about politics and such, but I decided to put some personal touches in, I added some of my favorite songs, and I'm going to add more photo's. Well, once I figure out how to do that lol.
Ok, well that worked out good! I must be some sort of genius or something. "Or something" better describes me. I just wanted to show off how handsome my son is.
It's been a long winter and spring is just around the corner. I can't wait. I think that the long winter is making people wacky. I have some serious stree-reducing things planned...and I'll keep you up to date.
First, Jourdan and I have several craft projects in the works. Tooth-fairy pillows, dream pillows, scented sachets, and lavender rice bags. We're so creative! I can't wait to show you how they turn out.
Once the decent weather gets here, by that I mean above 60 degrees and all snow gone from my yard, Chicky and I are going to give our patio a makeover. We have this great deck that goes off the three-season porch and it's just going to waste. We've lived here three years and never used it or done anything with it. It's insane. When we BBQ, we have the grill in the driveway and we sit in the garage and drink beer. No more!
We bought this house on foreclosure and the previous owners had put this new deck/patio in the side yard for a hot tub. Well, they removed the hot tub before we came along and left a fabulous area for summer entertaining. It has a wooden bench the length of one side and it's covered by lattice.
Jourdan and I have a huge list of ideas for the porch to make it a summer haven. New covers for the chairs, which we will spray paint, cushions for the bench. A large wooden table for the middle of the deck to hold our coctails and munchies. We're going to put up lattice to block us off from the neighbors. I have the coolest chinese lantern patio lights I'm going to put up. Add an outdoor rug, some painting of vines and flowers on the rails and we'll be good. Oh, and I almost forgot the best part. We went to Hobby Lobby and found the coolest hanging candle holders. I bought pink and purple ones and they have long twisty wire hangers and glass beads made into flowers. I got one for each corner of the deck to hang....it's going to look so good. Tina had a great idea to put the citranella candles in them. Plus, we have tiki torches!
So, we have plenty to do to get ready for our summer retreat. I'm really looking forward to it.
