Friday Again

We've had a busy weekend. Here it is after 10pm and I'm wide awake. As you know, we have an early riser in our house. It doesn't matter what day it is, little Miss Sami sunshine is up at the crack of dawn.....7 days a week. So, I had a plan. I told Scott that we could each pick a day of the weekend to sleep in.

Obviously since he works late on Friday night I figured he'd want Saturday morning. That means that I get to sleep in on Sunday and he get's up with the youngest two and get's them breakfast.

So Saturday morning I heard Sam in her room at about 6:45am. She's in there yelling, "DAD". Well, I got up and made her some toast and gave John some cereal. Scott got up a short time later and we went about our day.

This morning I heard Sam in her room yelling, "DAD". She went on like that for a while and I finally got up. Scott made some comment about how Saturday had been my day to sleep in.....well it didn't go over so great. He tried to get me to go back to bed but Sam just kept standing at our bedroom door knocking on it and crying. So, I got up.

So my plan, while great in theory, didn't work out so well. Maybe next weekend will work out better.

Friday was an incredible day, don't you think? I spent most of the day outside with the kids and it was so warm and sunny. Tina came over and we dranks some beer and sat on the back deck. It was breezy, a litle warm, but so nice after being cold for the last 9 months. We cooked on grill and I made my best hamburger ever. I'm not that great of a cook and I don't cook often, so you have to understand that this was quite an accomplishment for me.

Tina had the brilliant idea to put smoked gouda cheese on our hamburgers. Yummy! I love smoked gouda but wasn't sure how it would be on a burger, but it was deeeelish!

I felt so bad when Scott called and asked what we were doing. He was hoping that we'd still be out on the deck when he got home but the kids were so tired. Sami and John were filthy from being outside all day.....and tired. So after their baths they were out cold. By then, it was really late so we called it a night.

I was so excited about the nice weather that I decided we should have a cookout on Saturday. The weatherman had said all week that the weather would be nice on Saturday. They were calling for 80 degrees and sunny. Well, if you live in Michigan you know that wasn't the case. We had a bunch of people here and it rained off and on all day long.

We didn't let it ruin our fun. Scott made pulled pork and it cooks on the grill for about 7 hours. So, we were outside with him almost all day. Tina and I made a batch of homemade Sangria on Friday and it has to sit for 24 hours so we had that Saturday too. OMG, it was so good. She put thin sliced oranges, lemon, apples, and blackberries in it. Then it soaked in the Sangria overnight. I wasn't sure if I'd like Sangria, but I think it might be one of my favorites. We have decided it's a staple for the camper!

So, we had a great time. Tina and Dani were here, mom, Kathie and the kids, and us. We had a good time even though the weather didn't cooperate. We had planned on going camping at Sessions Lake but the water won't be on until May 1st. And, we're spoiled. It's not like we can go camping and rough it. Puleeze! If you've seen our "camper" you know that we don't rough it. I always say, it's nicer than our house.

Today, more rain. Is anyone else sick of the rain? For crying out loud, we go from how many months of freezing blizzard to constand clouds and rain. I'm sick to death of overcast weather. I'm ready for some sunshine. I'm sure it'll happen soon. I'm also sure that the sun will be shining the days I have to be at work. Never fails.

Along with the rain I feel like there is major humidity. I've been miserable warm all day long. Scott asked me to go for a walk, and we actually got to go without any kids. Sami was sleeping and John was playing with the neighbor kids. So, we decided to walk his jogging route. We took the GPS so we could see how far it is. We walked just over 2.7 miles in less than 45 minutes. Slow for him, but good for me. Regardless, it was better than coming in the house and laying in the recliner.

So we had a pretty good weekend. Now, tomorrow is already Monday. I'm not ready for Monday. I think it should be Friday again.
