Tomorrow is Easter! John is so excited that the Easter Bunny is coming tonight that he is just beside himself. It was so easy to get him to bed tonight, only surpassed by the ease of getting him to bed on Christmas Eve.
John's been singing the Peter Cottontail song. "Here comes Peter Cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail, hippity, hoppity, Easter's on it's way."
He was so funny all week. He's been on the countdown to Easter Bunny. Then he realized that he gets to color Easter Eggs. Wow! Easter eggs. I boiled three dozen eggs for him to color. John and Jourdan made short work of the whole Easter egg task. Sami tried to help but all she really wanted to do was grab the white eggs and hand them to someone to dip in the color. I got some really cute pictures. Hmmm, I should do the same thing Nicki does and post my pictures right in my post. But, the camera is in the kitchen......and I'm in bed. So, sorry about your luck.
I'm just hearing Jason pull in. He parks in the back drive so I can hear his truck pull in. Since he got his truck, we rarely see him. He's been enjoying spring break and I'm sure he's sad to have it go so fast! Now that he's home I'll feel good about closing my eyes and going to sleep.....knowing that he's home safe and sound.
I didn't do much for Jason's Easter basket this year. Scott was surprised that I was getting one for him at all. HELLO.....did you just meet me? As long as he's under my roof, he's getting all the stuff for all the holidays. Matter of fact, he will continue to get stuff from me until he has children of his own....then I'll buy for them. That's how it works in my house.
At any rate, he's not much for the goodies, so I got him a couple of things.....that he probably won't even eat. Mostly I spent money on gift cards for him. ITunes and Meijer. I figure the kids is going to need gas money, right? So, he'll appreciate that more than a chocolate bunny.
This year is espcially important to me. Scott has been on this crazy weekend shift for over two and a half years and at the moment, he's on second shift. So, he wasn't home for the last couple Easter's. That meant me doing it all myself. It really sucked. I didn't want the kids to suffer so I continued our traditions, but it wasn't the same without Scott.
So, this year he is home and I'm thrilled. We'll get up in the morning and the kids will be going crazy over their Easter baskets. I always buy plastic eggs and fill them with money. Usually a couple of dollar bills and then quarters, dimes, and nickels. This year, I just got a bunch of ones and a roll of quarters....so they are making out like bandits.
Typically, the Easter bunny fills the eggs and leaves them around the living room for the kids to find in the morning. This year, we are going an egg hunt in the back yard. The weather has been decent and my mom always had good luck with it in past years. So, we're going to give it a shot. I've stuffed 84 plastic eggs so the kids will have fun with that. I know that Jason is going to say he doesn't want to do it and he's too old. But, if he wants what is inside the eggs he'll need to participate....and like it, lol.
Ok, I'm outta here. I need to find my Quote for the Day. It's nearly midnight and the kids will be up bright and early. We are staying home for dinner this year. I'm so excited that Scott will be home. He is the best cook. Alot of women might not like that a man can cook better than they can....but I'll be the first to admit that Scott is a much better cook than I am. So, I'm also excited that he's home to make part of our Easter dinner. I make the homemade butterhorn rolls, sweet potatoe puff, and dessert. Jourdan likes to make the stuffing and help with dessert. Scott makes the ham and the mashed potatoes. John, Jason and Sami eat! So, I guess what they make......is a turd!
